Metro Pavia Health System, the largest hospitals’ network in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and pioneers in Medical Tourism servicing the neighboring islands for the past two decades, inaugurated its new Information Center located at Vitraco Mall, next to “Doctors On Duty” Medical Office in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The recently relocated Information Center, will officially open its doors to the U.S. Virgin Islands community during the “Business After Hours” event cosponsored by the St. Thomas – St. John Chamber of Commerce, so that they can tour the facility and have a chance to personally meet the fully bilingual (English – Spanish) Service Coordinators and Administrative Staff.  By establishing physical presence via its Information Centers almost a decade ago, Metro-Pavia Health System has demonstrated its commitment to the well being of the entire Caribbean community.

The lively opening ceremony and ribbon cutting, was attended by some special guests, such as Mr. Kevin Rodriguez, Men’s health coordinator from Helping Others in a Positive Environment, Inc. (HOPE), Linda Bruton, VP from Skymed USVI, Hector  Boria, VP Operations Metro Pavia Health System (MPHS), Mrs. Barbara Petersen, St. Thomas/ Water Island Administrator from the USVI Government Office, Madeliza Ramirez, Medical Tourism Director from MPHS, various Board certified physicians from the Pavia Hospital Network and also the participation of  local residents,  who for years have used the services of our hospitals in Puerto Rico.

Meanwhile, Jose L. Rodríguez, Pavia Santurce Hospital CEO said … “It’s an honor to be the host of this activity as this reaffirms our commitment to quality and service with the community in providing these extra services not available in the US  Virgin Islands, and in supporting local doctors and health institutions together to improve the quality of life of residents. Visitors and callers will be able to obtain information regarding highly specialized services and procedures in the following medical subspecialties:

  • Hematology/oncology (cancer)

  • Diagnostic imaging, including CT, MRI & Nuclear
  • Urology

With three (3) Information Center offices located in St. Thomas, St. Croix and Puerto Rico, Pavia Hospital service personnel will coordinate medical appointments and assist with air transportation and hotel lodging at discounted rates.  Also available is free ground transportation from the San Juan International airport to the Hospital and/or Hotel.  Metro-Pavia Health System Hospitals accept most of the health insurance plans, such as: Mapfre, United Health Care, Corvel, BUPA, Atlantic Southern, Triple S, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Colonial, MAP, MCH, Medicare, among others.

The uninsured will receive up to a 50% discount on all outpatient services (i.e., imaging and laboratory testing) by enrolling in Pavia Hospital’s FREE membership “Preferred Patient” Program.
